Mother Nature Alert

I'm not an expert but when I saw that Super Typhoon Yolanda in the news, I knew there was something really wrong with Mother Nature.  You see, instead of protecting us humans, what she is busy doing lately is to react to the problems thrown to her and she just can't control or delay her reactions.  She has to face those problems - smog, all other types of pollution, garbage everywhere, cutting down trees or the  kaingin  system overpopulation, all other issues that bring about the climate change on earth - global warming, green house gas, sea level rise, fossil fuels, and more! It's too much for Mother Nature! She has got a handful of serious issues in her face. Mother Nature, our Earth, our home is wounded!  We have been informed before maybe during science classes in grade school or through TV and internet that the Earth is alive.  What she also does is to heal herself and one effect of that is evolution.    Again, I'm not an expert but I t...

No Plastic

So I’ve been thinking to start really contributing to a greener, cleaner and less-plastic enviroment.  I will focus first on the last of the three items I mentioned, that is, less-plastic planet.  I’ve been minimal in using things in plastic containers such as shampoo, lotion, oil, creams, toner, lipstick, face powder, body powder, hair conditioners, dishwashing liquid, fabric conditioners, mouthwash, food, and many others.   I am not also a fan of plastic pails, dipper, basin, trash bins, plates, drinking cups, and many other plastic products.  However, I feel that about 90% of what I need on a daily basis is associated with plastic products.   I wish I could go back to the days when people used nature’s products for their everyday lives. When was plastic made anyway?  I had to google this and I tried to read its history and I got bored on the first sentence. Anyway, the first man-made plastic was called Parkesine, after its creator’...

Going To The Beach

Beach again is my idea and I'm just reminiscing now one of those days... This was taken way back September 15, 2012 right after the Christening of my son, Oriel. This is the beach located in UEP, Catarman N. Samar. Yep, this is inside the vicinity of the university. The beach is also along the national highway so it's very easy to locate and there are a lot of people to ask around if lost or whatever. This is me and my son, the cutest thing in the whole universe! So the beach is gloomy during this month. The wet season had just about started at this time so there's more rain than sunshine. Fortunately, our province does not usually get flooded even during very intense and heavy rains.  Same place different occasion around Christmastime 2012... So this time, the sun was shining bright but very windy but we usually went in the afternoons about three o'clock  so we do not worry about the heat or the sunburn.   ...
